Hands On Equations
The
objective of these math manipulatives called “Hands On Equations” is to
introduce students to the concepts of algebra at an early age. These tools allow
students to change an abstract equation into its physical representation and
solve problems through a series of “moves” with the pawns provided in the
kit. Students build self esteem and confidence in their math skills. When
students experience success in this form of mathematics, which is the basis for
the study of higher math and science, there is great potential for improved
learning in the future and less likelihood of developing math phobia. Ms. Combs
will be sharing these tools with many teachers at |
