Flip Camera (5/09)
Ms. Parece is always looking for new
ways to motivate and engage her children. She was thrilled to be part of a
professional development training that introduced the flip camera as a learning
tool. She will be using the flip camera in her 5th grade science classes
to help students grasp concepts such as light, sound, cell structure,
measurement, scientific method and many others. The students will create
instructional videos demonstrating their understanding of these science
concepts.
MP3 Players (5/09)
Ms. Butcher has developed an exciting
new program that she calls, "iHear it, iSee it, iCreate it, iPod it," to promote
anytime, anywhere learning. MP3 players can be used as portable learning
tools that allows students access to audio books, PowerPoint, stories, movies
and so much more. These devices include voice recorders and the capability
for the students to create charts, tables, photos, artwork, and movies.
This type of tool can be used to motivate and engage students in every subject.
SMARTboard
The SMARTboard is the
new blackboard! Technology is such a huge part of our everyday life now and we
need to incorporate this into our teaching and learning. The SMARTboard allows
teachers and students to access and display websites, run educational software,
highlight and review notes from a class discussion, deliver Power Point
presentations and much more. This board is touch sensitive and interactive. It
provides the ability to show and do rather than just tell. Students are
motivated to learn with this new technology. Ms. Jacobs feels the SMARTboard is
especially important for her classroom with special needs students.
